Scottsdale, AZ’s Leading Outpatient Treatment Programs

At Sierra at Scottsdale Outpatient Care, we understand that each person has their own needs that require different levels of support. We will offer two different outpatient programs to ensure that our clients receive the appropriate mental health disorder care for their unique concerns.

Programs Overview

Sierra at Scottsdale will have two levels of care for clients to choose from based on their medical history, personal experiences and goals for treatment. Adults age 18 and older of all genders can benefit from our partial hospitalization program (PHP) or intensive outpatient program (IOP) for mental health concerns and potential co-occurring substance use disorders.

The PHP is the highest level of outpatient care we will provide, involving five hours of therapy each day, five days a week. Our IOP still offers a regular therapeutic schedule but includes three hours of therapy each day, four days a week.

Someone might enter our PHP or IOP after completing a higher level of care, such as inpatient or residential, or they can enter one of the programs directly. Both our PHP and IOP will allow clients to receive the care they need while continuing to work, take classes and attend to other obligations.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Our PHP might be an appropriate treatment level for someone who does not require 24-hour care but can still benefit from a high level of support.

The PHP involves therapy five days each week, Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. We will provide lunch during this time, and clients can return home when not in counseling sessions and on the weekends. The typical length of stay at this level of care is about two to three weeks.

In our PHP, clients will be able to participate in a range of therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma-focused CBT, experiential therapy and motivational interviewing. Therapy will be delivered in the form of group, individual and family sessions. Group therapy will be a key component of our PHP and will cover topics such as mindfulness, emotion regulation, body image, social skills, self-esteem, roadblocks to recovery and journaling. Clients will also receive basic medical care and medication management services.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Our IOP will offer a lower level of care while still being more intensive than traditional outpatient services. Clients can enter the IOP at Sierra at Scottsdale directly or after completing our PHP or another higher level of care, helping them transition out of treatment.

IOP participants will take part in programming Monday-Thursday, from 9 a.m.-noon, returning home after their therapy sessions. The average length of stay at this level of care is between four and six weeks.

Like with our PHP, clients in our IOP can benefit from various therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused CBT, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and motivational interviewing. Group therapy will be the main method of treatment in our IOP, covering topics such as DBT skills, mindfulness, body image, social anxiety, self-esteem and roadblocks to recovery. In addition, clients will receive individual therapy sessions every few weeks that focus on discharge planning.
