Scottsdale, AZ’s Leading Partial Hospitalization Program

Treatment for mental health disorders does not look the same for everyone. For that reason, at Sierra at Scottsdale Outpatient Care, we offer two different programming options, including a partial hospitalization program (PHP) that is designed to provide the structured care that may help you on your personal healing journey.

About Our Partial Hospitalization Program

For those who do not need round-the-clock care, Sierra at Scottsdale Outpatient Care offers partial hospitalization programming (PHP). This program provides highly structured, daylong services in which clients receive support and encouragement as they address behavioral health concerns.

Our PHP is available for adults age 18 and older of all genders who are suffering from mental health disorders like depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and bipolar disorder. We also offer programming for individuals who may be struggling with co-occurring addiction concerns.

The program meets Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., and lunch is provided for all participants. The average length of stay is approximately two to three weeks, but it may vary based on a client’s needs and the progress they make while in treatment.

Our partial hospitalization program is run by a number of professionals who are experts in the field of behavioral healthcare. Licensed clinical social workers, licensed master social workers, licensed associate counselors, licensed professional counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists work with clients to ensure that they receive well-rounded care. Additionally, we have a registered nutrition dietitian on staff, as well as team members who are specially trained in trauma-informed yoga.

Recognizing that medical factors can impact a person’s ability to fully participate in the treatment process, our team also consists of registered nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. This allows us to make sure that clients receive comprehensive care during their time in programming.

What to Expect

Our partial hospitalization program includes numerous different types of therapies. We know that everyone’s needs vary, and we believe that treatment must be individualized to meet those needs.

The types of therapies you may participate in while in our PHP include:

  • Medication management services are available twice a week and consist of meetings with a psychiatrist or a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who will monitor any medications you may be taking.
  • Individual therapy takes place once each week and offers clients time to meet one-on-one with a licensed clinician.
  • Family therapy may be included in a client’s treatment plan if the therapist recommends it or if a client specifically requests it. These sessions are led by a licensed clinician and typically occur once a week.
  • Trauma-informed yoga is a type of experiential therapy we offer at Sierra at Scottsdale. These yoga sessions occur on a weekly basis.

Group therapy is the most prominent type of treatment used in our partial hospitalization program. Cognitive behavioral therapy groups may include discussions on behavioral activation, schemas and thought records, while dialectical behavior therapy groups can include conversations about distress tolerance skills, emotion regulation, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness. Additional topics that may be discussed in group therapy sessions include body image, social anxiety, abandonment, self-esteem and roadblocks to recovery.

Medical care is also available on an as-needed basis. Each client meets with a member of our medical staff within seven days of admission to determine if any physical concerns need to be addressed.

We strive to make the admissions process as seamless and straightforward as possible. We believe that there should be no barriers to receiving treatment, and we pride ourselves on maintaining timely, helpful, respectful and transparent communication.

When you call our admissions department, you will speak with a coordinator who will conduct a general assessment to determine if our partial hospitalization program will best meet your needs. Once the results of that assessment have been reviewed by additional professionals on our team, the coordinator will provide you with guidance on next steps.

If you believe that Sierra at Scottsdale Outpatient Care’s partial hospitalization program can help you on your healing journey, please reach out to us at your earliest convenience. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
