Behavioral health treatment should honor each person’s unique background. We use a variety of therapies in the outpatient programming at Sierra at Scottsdale Outpatient Care, helping every person find the path to healing that is right for them.
Therapies Overview
The personalized services we provide at Sierra at Scottsdale Outpatient Care help adults age 18 and older of all genders find lasting healing from certain mental health conditions and co-occurring substance use disorders.
We offer several different types of therapy as part of the outpatient programming at our facility in Scottsdale, AZ, including:
- Group therapy
- Individual therapy
- Family therapy
- Trauma-informed yoga
Because the healing process is individual to each person, we will make recommendations for which therapies to include in your treatment plan based on your specific needs and goals.
Group Therapy
Group therapy is the primary method of care we use at Sierra at Scottsdale, so you can expect to take part in various psychoeducational and psychotherapy groups during your time in treatment.
PHP participants meet for group therapy five hours each treatment day, while IOP participants take part in three hours of group therapy each treatment day.
We address many different topics during group therapy sessions, such as thought records, mindfulness, social anxiety and roadblocks to recovery. Our expert team will tailor your group therapy sessions to the goals outlined in your treatment plan.
Individual Therapy
We offer individual therapy at both the PHP and IOP levels at Sierra at Scottsdale that is based on each person’s individual needs.
PHP participants typically take part in individual therapy sessions once a week, during which they can talk one-on-one with a counselor about their progress or any topics they may not feel comfortable discussing during group therapy sessions.
IOP participants usually meet individually with a counselor every other week to discuss their aftercare planning. These sessions can provide a crucial road map for how to continue your progress after completing treatment at our Scottsdale, AZ, facility.
Family Therapy
At Sierra at Scottsdale, we recognize just how critical a role family can play in a person’s treatment. We offer weekly family therapy sessions at the PHP level whenever clinically appropriate for someone’s care.
By taking part in family therapy at our outpatient center in Scottsdale, AZ, families can gain a better understanding of their loved one’s experiences with a mental health disorder.
These sessions can also help open the lines of communication between family members, allowing them to rebuild trust and mend any bonds that may have been damaged because of a loved one’s struggles with mental illness.
Trauma-Informed Yoga
Sometimes it’s difficult to put your feelings into words, and that can make it hard to heal from the effects of trauma. Experiential therapies let you express yourself in other ways, and those other forms of self-expression often help the words come more easily.
When you take part in the partial hospitalization program at Sierra at Scottsdale Outpatient Care, we may recommend including weekly trauma-informed yoga in your treatment.
This is a type of experiential therapy that uses movement that is based in trauma research to help you learn to regulate your emotions and become more aware of the connection between your mind and body.
